THE RHODE ISLANDER’S MISTAKE. I The following amusing incident we find in the Louisville Journal: A Rhode Islander, travelling out West, after taking several drinks, went on board the steatn , boat fur Cincinnati, and was astonished that the > clerk only took five cents for hia fare. Soon | ! after another five cents was called for, ami the . same thing repeated several times. At last he asked—“is (hie) this ada n ger (hie) ous boat?” ‘•By no means,” said the clerk, “bran new.”— “Then, (hie) why do (hie) don’t you collect all I the fa (hie) hair at once, not bothei a fel (hie) her for it every mile as it comes due?” “Real ly, whire do you think you are going?” “Cin cin(hic) hinnati.” “Cincinnati,” said the con ductor. “This is the terry-Ixiat, and all this afternoon you have been riding lo and fro be tween New Albany and Portland.” Cotton, Boatinu, Rivi-r, &c. —The recoipts of Cotion since October 224, amounts to nearly 450 bdes.
