Community Business Task Force
Atlanta
State Senator Charles Walker
of Augusta has been appointed
by Lieutenant Governor Pierre
Howard to serve on the Commu
nity Business Task Force, which
will explore ways to create new
jobs and spur economic develop

The Task Force, along with an
Institute for Community Busi
ness Development, was created
by the 1995 General Assembly
under legislation co-sponsored by
Sen. Walker.
The Institute was established
toassist citizens in helping them
selves to create jobs and local
community development. Walk

age public efforts to form com
munity development corpora
tions and other collaboratives to
help economically depressed ru
ral and urban areas. The Task
Force will study and make rec
ommendations on the state’s role
in setting up the Institute.
“The state needs to take an
important attribute of rowing is
the fellowship of the sport. The
two-time Georgia Games com
petitor feels that the Sportsman
ship Award “relates to the team
and team members, encourag
ing rowers to work together.”
Although definitely one of the
highlights of her career, Carolyn
hopes to continue rowing well into
the future. She has set her sights
on completing as many regattas
as possible, and with her award in
tow, there is no doubt she can
accomplish anything.
