Joe Gregory Burch, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Claude L. Jones of Au
gusta, GA, grandson of Mr. and
Mrs. Benjamin Simpson of
Lavonia, GA and Mrs. Ida Taylor
of Augusta, GA and son-in-law of
Mr. and Mrs. Shepherd Archie,
Sr. of Augusta, GA recently was
awarded a Doctor of Dental Med
icine degree from Boston Uni
versity Goldman School of Grad
uate Dentistry in Boston, Mass.
Boston University’s Goldman
School of Graduate Dentistry,
established in 1963, was the first
dental school in the country de
signed exclusively for
postdoctoral specialty training.
Its predoctoral program, leading
tothe DMD degree, waslaunched
in 1972. Inits short history, the
Goldman School has become a
nationally and internationally
respected teaching institution,
emphasizing research and clini
cal care, and community service
to both local and international
communities.

Miss Paine College
crowned for ’95-96
B Junior coed from
Newark will reign for
a school year.
The coronation for Miss Paine
College and other campus queens
will took place on Thursday, No
vember 9, 1995 at 8:00 p.m. in
the Gilbert-Lambuth Memorial
Chapel on the Paine College cam
pus. Joey Hayes, a junior from
Newark, New Jersey, was elect
ed Miss Paine College last spring
by the student body and will offi
cially begin her reign with the
coronation. The eventis free and
open to the public.
Quality breeders expected at dog show
All-Breed dog show to be held
November 11
The Augusta Kennel Club is a
non-profit organization and a
member club of the American
Kennel Club. They are hosting an
all-breed dog show this Saturday,
November 11, at the Augusta Col
lege Sports Complex on
Wrightsboro Road. Judging will
begin at 9:00 a.m. This event will
showcase pure-bred dogs and is
sanctioned by the American Ken
nel Club. The Augusta German
Shepherd Dog Club will be host
ing a supported entry.
It hasbeen threeyearssincethe
Augusta Kennel Club has hosted
a local show. The semi-annual
dog shows are a major source of
funding. Profits are redirected
intopubliceducation projectssuch
as the local library program, edu
cational programs, etc. Events of
this sort will impact positively on

business within this community.
This is an excellent opportunity
for the community tointeract with
quality breeders. It will provide
an avenue to see multiple breeds
for those looking for a companion
pet. It is not recommended to

The Augusta undergraduate
and alumnae chapters of Sigma
Gamma Rho Sorority Inc., are
celebrating the organization’s
75th Founders Day observance
with the presentation of “Scenes
from the Rho,” Sat., Nov. 11, 6
p.m., at Paine College’s Gilbert-
Lambuth Chapel.
The festive evening will fea
ture fashions by Kim & Carolyn’s
Boutique and The Shoppe —
which includes J’s Innovations
and Sophisticated Gents — of
Augusta. Also featured will be
performances by Augusta Dance
and Music Center and Mercer
University dancer Michelle
Johnson, anda capella selections
dogsare allowed on show grounds.
There will be exhibitors from all
across the southeast and vendors
withabroad assortment ofunique
canine and petitems. Thisshow is
free and open to the public. For

Doors open at 5 p.m. and
admission is $5.00. Speakers
include Bro. Minister Harold X
and prominent black leaders.
