Glenn Hills’ Lamback named
Administrator of the Year
Dr. Charles Ruben Lamback
Sr., principal of Glenn Hills High
School, was recently recognized
as Administrator of the Year by
the Richmond County Associa
tion of Educational Office Per
sonnel at its annual banquet.
Dr. Lamback received his ear
ly education in South Carolina.
He received the Bachelor of Arts
Degree from Benedict College in
Columbia, S.C.; his Master of
Education Degree from S.C.
State College; an Educational
Specialist Degree from Tuskegee
Institute; and his Doctor of Edu
cation Degree from South Caro
lina State University. Dr.
Lamback’s dissertation thesis
was entitled Merit Pay: An Anal
ysis of Superintendents’Attitudes
in Selected Georgia Schools. Dr.
Military history buffs set to
relive the Battle of Augusta
The Historical Miniatures
Gaming Society (HMGS) is a
national non-profit organization
interested in promoting the study
of Military History' and the sim
ulation of battles with miniature
soldiers. HMGS has conducted
seminars for the Department of
Defense, the Smithsonian Insti
tute, and various Colleges and
Universities. It is both an aca
demic and leisure institution.
The Mid-South Region has re
cently become active in the Au
gusta area and is conducting its
fourth convention, The Siege of
Augusta, this winter from Janu
ary 5 - 7,1996 at the Landmark-
Ramada Plaza and Convention
Center at 640 Broad Street.
There is a small admission fee
for those who wish to participate
in the events. Or browse free in
the vender area with the whole
family.

Historical Miniatures Tourna
ment was held and a second one
will be held this year. A number
of Middle and High Schools will
send two student teams to com
pete in an afternoon of ancients
competition. The event will start
at 3:45 p.m. on Friday, January
5.
There will also be a flea mar
ket and vendors with books, toy
soldiers from around the world
