SENSE AND SENSIBILITY, a film
directed by Ang Lee, is Jane Austen’s
classic in a version written by and
starring Emma Thompson. It will be
shown free at Augusta College in the
Butler Hall Lecture Room on Monday,
May 20. This free film, rated PG, will
be shown at 6 and 8:30 p.m.

rial dedication by the Law Enforce
ment Angels Foundation to Robert
Forsyth, who was the first Law En
forcement officer in America killed in
the line of duty. Included also will be
an awards ceremony for Outstanding
Law Enforcement Officers of the Year
for 1995. This event concludes with a
candlelight walk to Heroes’ Overlook
at 10th Street for the dedication of the
Robert Forsyth Monument, which in
cludes the names of all Augusta-Rich
mond County Law Enforcement Offic

SHEPEARD COMMUNITY BLOOD
CENTER, 1533 Wrightsboro Road,
supplies the majority of hospitals in
the CSRA and depends on volunteer
donations to maintain that supply. The
following is a list of upcoming blood
drives:
- May 18, Sat, 9a.m.- 1 p.m. The
bloodmobile will be parked behind the
Burke County Hospitalin Waynesboro.
Another bloodmobile will be parked
behind the Aiken Electric Co-op from
9:30a.m.-3:30 p.m,, inthe parking lot
on Hwy. 302 in Aiken.

Marvin United Methodist Church park

D. EISENHOWER ARMY MEDICAL
CENTER, in collaboration with the
University of Alabama at Birmingham
and Emory University, are testing a
program to reduce the risk of heart
disease in African-American women.
Ifyou are an African-American woman
on active duty, between the ages of 25
-45, and are interested in participating
in this program, please call 787-9186.
UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL’S SPEECH
AND HEARING CENTER hearing aid
donor program provides reconditioned
hearing aids to hearing-impaired indi
viduals who otherwise could not af
ford them. Applicants for the program
will be screened to determine their
eligibility. The service relies on the
donation of used hearing aids, regard
less of condition. The hearing aid’s
performance will be evaluated and its
need for reconditioning and repair de
termined. Hearing aid donations and
repair costs are made through the
Speech and Hearing Endowment set
up through the University Health Care
Foundation. For more information on
donating hearing aids or to participate

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
VOLUNTEER DRIVERS are needed
for about one hour between 10:30 -
11:30 a.m. to deliver meals to
homebound senior citizens in the Au
gustaareaforthe Senior Citizens Coun
cil's Meals-on-Wheels program. All
volunteers are provided with an orien
tation to their routes and delivery pro
