“Information for Senior Citizens,” seminar presented by the
Deaconess Ministry, will be held on Saturday, March 22,from 12-2:30
p-m. The seminar will provide information to senior citizens on where
and how to apply for benefits,including nursing homes and personal
care homes. All senior citizens, caregivers and any interested individu
als and groups in the community are encouraged to attend. There is no fee.
The seminar will be presented in the Educational Center at the church.

Palm Sunday Preparation Service will be held on Sunday, March 23,

Sharpton calls for

(AP) The Rev. Al Sharpton, say
ing he was “outraged” by reports
of racial discrimination and vio
lence against minoritiesinthe U.S.
Marshals Service, called Monday
for a federal investigation.
Reacting to a story in Sunday’s
New York Post, Sharpton de
nounced reports that white offic
ersat the federal law enforcement
agency were violent toward mi
nority employees and had used
Martin Luther King’s picture for
target practice.
Only 15 of 146 U.S. marshals in
New York areblack, Sharptonsaid,
citing figures from the newspaper
article. The paper also said that of
the service’s total of 2,552 crimi
nal investigators, 2,148 or 84.1
percent are white.
