Local communities are in des

to complete extensive repairs, to
expand existing facilities or to re

General Accounting Office (GAO).
This problem is a national problem
facing rural school districts as well

Under The Partnership to Re
build America’s Schools Act of
1997, half of the funds would be
distributed directly to the top 100
school districts with the highest
number of poor children. The
DeKalb County School System is
ranked as the 92nd poorest school
system in the United States. Con
gresswoman McKinney announced,
“Passage of this Act will mean

repair funds for Georgia schools
with $5,336,559.00 specifically tar
