that all students could not be
awarded a scholarship, members
were pleased to have an opportu
zty to meet the outstanding stu
fents and give them some helpful
hints on how to be successful in
college.

ated. As the
coordinator,

on his or her chart. Her co-work
ers say she is always pleasant,
helpful, and knowledgeable when
interacting with patients. They
consider her an integral part of
the Primary Care Team and feel
fortunate to have her assistance
every day. During the past year,
it was necessary for Robinson to
coordinate the activities of two
primary care teams until an addi
tional Coordinator could be em
ployed. In her spare time,
Robinson is pursuing an advance
degree in Psychology.
Miss Andrews gave the applicants
many helpful hints on attending
college. Among the hints were:
put God first, keep in touch with
family back home, study hard,
choose activities and friends
wisely and don’t forget to set goals.
Several members of the soror
ity also gave helpful hints and
explained the role of sororities
and fraternities on the college
campus.
The parents of the applicants
expressed their appreciation for
the reception and stated that the
program was very helpful to them
as well.
The 1997 scholarship recipients
will be announced during gradua
tion exercises.

Ms. Jerisa Chateen Grant
Johnson has been selected to par
ticipate in the Hughes Leader
ship Alliance Program at
Dartmouth College School of
Medicine this summer ’97. She
was selected from a pool of over
165 applicants. Approximately 25
participants were selected for this
research program. Jerisa will be

Jerisa is a rising junior at
Howard University in Washing
ton, D.C. She was also selected to
participate in the National Name
Exchange Program for Graduate
Studies after her completion of
undergraduate work at Howard.
This program is a consortium of
twenty-nine prestigious institu
tions such as Harvard, Stanford,
Yale and Princeton Universities.
Jerisa was selected for this pro
grambecause of her fine academic
record at Howard University.
Jerisais the daughter of Beverly
Grant Johnson and James E.
Johnson. She is a 1995 graduate
of A.R. Johnson Health, Science
and Engineering High School and
a 1995 National Oratorical Win
ner for the Top Teens of America,
Inc. This youth group is spon
sored by the Top Ladies of Dis
tinction, Inc. Jerisa is a member
of Second Shiloh Missionary Bap
tist Church. She is looking for
ward to attending Dartmouth
School of Medicine in New Hamp
