Samuels, along with con tributingeditor Ellis Cose, national correspondent Vern E. Smith, and senior writer John Leland were honored atthe NAB.J’s annual con ference on Friday, July 18, for their work on the package. The story examines the generation gap that has grown between African Ameri cans of the civil rights generation and their offspring, who are more often interested in the world of hip hop, rather than the political and social issues which were the ful crum of their parents struggles. Samuels attended Monte Sano and Terrace Manor elementary schools, A.R. Johnson Junior High and Glenn Hills High School in Augusta, and graduated from Clark REG.
