Ms. Lenora Murray
The Civilian of the Month for
November 1997 is Ms. Lenora
Murray, Military Personnel Divi
sion. A native of New York City,
she has served here for 12 of her
21 years of Federal Service. On
the job, she reviews and processes
applications for warrant and of
ficers schools, emergency leave
and other actions. Ms. Murray
was chosen Civilian of the Month
based on her professional attitude
and exceptional job performance.

Mrs. Connie Karpinsky
The Volunteer of the Month for
November 1997 is Mrs. Connie
Karpinsky, a volunteer for the
Officers Wives Club, Christmas
House and Army Family Team
Building. A grown-up Army brat,
she has spent much of the last 20-
plus years volunteering her time
insome way. The Girl Scouts, Red
Cross, Youth Activities Swim Pro
gram, and schools have all gotten
a helping hand from Mrs.
Karpinsky.
The Soldier of the Month for
October 1997 is PFC Ryan
Pittman, Vehicle Registration,
Military Police Activity. This na
tive of El Cajon, California, joined
the Army just 14 months ago. In
his nine months at Fort Gordon,
he has become a proactive part of
the Military Police , providing ser
vices for the post ranging from
enforcing traffic regulations to
dealing with DUI cases. He says
hejoined the Army togain life and
jobexperience tohelp him through
life—and became an MP because
of his sense of duty, commitment,
and what is right. PFC Pittman
was chosen Soldier of the Month
based on his outstanding military
bearing and soldier skills.

The Volunteer of the Month for
October 1997 is Sgt. Kenneth
Grady, 702nd MI Group. A Geor
gia native, he calls Atlanta his
hometown—and has been sta
tioned at Fort Gordon for the past
three years. Sergeant Grady vol
unteers his time for the GRSOC
(G-R Sock) Adopt-A-School pro
gram. He's been with the program
since its inception—as founder,
organizer and coordinator. It’s a
multi-service group dedicated to
helping Murphy Middle School
l.mlp Josey High School students
academically, with field trips,
mentoring programs, tutoring and
guest speakers. He says he’s hon
ored by this award, but gives the
credit to the many GRSOC volun
teers and command staffwho have
made the program possible.

KMC Telecom as an account
executive in their new office
located at One 10th Street,
Augusta. McCollum was with
Cellular One for nine years as
an account executive.

staff additions

motion of Rick Hawkins to Avid
Editor/Assistant Production
Manager at WFXG-TV, Fox 54.
Rick began his broadcast career.
at Studio South and then moved
to Edge Productions. He joined
Fox 54 in production in Novem
ber 1993. Rick holds a degree in
Business Management from
Georgia Southern University.
The station also welcomed Jas
on Wiley to their sales staff as a
marketing consultant. He has
over 2 1/2 years of sales experi
ence in the Augusta broadcast
industry.
