can be no effective teaching. Only
Dr. Pennamon and the other fe
male administrators can know for
certain why they have chosen to
place teachers in such unenviable
positions. Perhaps they feel threat
ened by the offending students,
too, and they feel that only by kow
towing to these students can they
curry their favor and cooperation.
Regardless of the reasons for the
administrators’ actions, however,
the students are in control. As a
result, the Josey family as a whole
is in ever increasing jeopardy. At
best, disruptive behavior will con
tinue to escalate. There will be
more fights where five or more
students gang up on one student.
Todate, only blood has been drawn.
At worst, someone may actually be
killed in confrontations because
the prevailing notion among stu
dents is that ‘anything goes.’

can do this only in an environment

Man shot by
unknown assailant
Also on Sunday, a woman re
ported her boyfriend shot in the
leg by an unknown assailant, and
that she’d first seen him when he
entered her home. According to
the victim, the person who shot
him was driving a blue car that
could have been a Thunderbird or
a Chevy Corsica.
Man arrested after
fleeing from police
During the early afternoon on
Sunday, Leon McGee was arrested
by sheriffs deputies while at
tempting to flee from an officer
who had told him to stop. When
told to lay down on the ground, he

Sheriff's department reports by
refused to do so, resulting in a
physical struggle between him
self and the officer who was at
tempting to handcuff him. The
officer suffered minor injury to
the hand, while subduing Mr.
McGee. Mr. McGee was arrested
on charges of Obstruction of a
Law Officer and Simple Battery.
Motorist attacked
by pedestrian ;
On Sunday, Markus Wiggert
was attacked by an unknown as
sailant while driving down
Boyscout Road. The man hit or
kicked the door of Mr. Wiggert's
pick-up truck then, when Wiggert
gotout of the truck to find out why
the man had attacked his vehicle,
the assailant began punchingand
kicking him about the head and
face. A sheriff’s deputy responded
and found rwfi! S2OO in dam
ages had been to the vehicle,
and Mr. Wiggert had knots and
m&n to the face and head.
While checking the area for the
man Mr. Wiggert described as his
assailant, deputies discovered one
possible subject that fit the
assailant’s description.
Good Samaritan
robbed by pair
Finally, also on Sunday, two
people — a man and woman —
driving a white Chrysler van bur
glarized a house while the resi
dent, Maria Delcruz Swanson was
in the home. The woman came to
Ms. Swanson’s front door, asking
for a glass of water. Her compan
ion then came in through the back
door, grabbed Ms. Swanson’s purse
and ran out the front door with his
woman companion. The two made
theirescapein the white van, which
was parked at a nearby corner.
