The Augusta Urban Minis
tries (AUM) is sponsoring a
Walk-A-Thon that will take
place this Saturday, October
3rd, in the downtown Au
gusta area. Registration be
gins at 9:30 a.m. at 303 Hale
St. The walk will begin at
that location for an approxi
mate six-mile route alongthe
Riverwalk and Greene Street
areas. If individuals or
groups would like to walk,
they may pick up envelopes

Breakfast Optimist Club of Au
gusta will be at the start/finish
line selling concessions with
all proceeds to benefit the
AUM.
Trophies will be awarded at
12:30 p.m. Walkers raising a
minimum of sls will receive a
T-shirt.
The Augusta Urban Minis
tries has been working in the
community for 25 years. It's
mission is to provide charitable
services to meet the needs of
ypirit
the poor and disadvantaged
individuals in the Augusta
area. They currently serve
the community through their
furniture bank, transitional
housing, pre-school plus pro
gram, a coat distribution, a
Christmas food box distribu
tion and the Community Kids
Outreach program designed
to give inner-city youth an
opportunity to engage in cre
ative activities on the week
ends. The Walk-A-Thon is
their primary fund-raising
event for their programs.

® Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1438 Wrightsboro

Road, Augusta, will hold a "Fishing For Souls" Clergy Revival from
October 7-9 from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. each day. Guest speakers will
be Rev. Robert Felton, Rev. Anthony Harden, and Rev. Henry Bass.
On Sunday, October 11, at 2:30 p.m., the chirch will celebrate it's
28th anniversary. Guest speaker will be Rev. Grady Wicker Jr. of

® Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church, 703 Fury's Ferry
Road, Evans, will be holding a kids crusade on Saturday, October 10,
at 5:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Mr. Dorian Harris of Living
Word Christian Center. There will be three children's choirs,the
African Christian Dance Group from United Fellowship, and the
Mind Dancers from Second Baptist, Aiken.
® Unitarian Universalist Church, Walton Way,
Augusta,welcomes the 6th season of the Augusta Jazz Project with a
chamber jazz concert featuring Buzz Clifford, The Last Bohemian, on
October 10 at 8 p.m., in the fellowship hall. Tickets are $lO for adults

® Trinity Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Augusta,
will celebrate its 158th church anniversary on Sunday, October 11, at
11 a.m. in the Gilbert-Lambuth Chapel at Paine College. The guest,
Rev. Bernard Kynes, will deliver a message on the theme "Journey of
Faith into the Twenty-First Century."
® Green Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1692 Old Savan
nah Road, Augusta, will hold their annual Fall Revival from October

8 Beulah Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1454 Poplar
Street, Augusta, will be hosting the Missionary Ministries from
various churches in the CSRA in honoring Sister Eleanor Workman,
a missionary from Haiti, on Sunday, October 18, at 2:30 p.m. The
Christian Haitian Outreach is a non-profit mission funded by contri

® Second Ebenezer Baptist Church, 4510 Old Waynesboro
Rd., Hephzibah, Soup Kitchen Ministry operates every Wednesday
from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The Soup Kitchen is open to all who are in need.
The church’s Food Bank Ministry is open every Saturday from 9 to
11:30 a.m., and is also open to all who are in need. Both ministries

gusta, presents Friday Noonday Services, at the church at noon. The

® First Providence Baptist Church, Augusta, offers an educa
tional outreach ministry to those who are homebound or otherwise
unable to get to services as often as they might wish. This service is
