Years in ministry: Rev. An
drew Butler has been in the min
istry for five years and was or
dained in 1997. Rev. Loretta
Butler received her license to
preach in 1995 and is currently
in the process of gaining ordina
tion.
Educational Background:
Rev. Andrew Butler received an
Associate degree in psychiatry
from Northwestern University,
a Bachelor of science degree in
psychiatric behavior from Co
lumbia State University, and is
currently pursuing a Masters
degree in Christian Counseling
from Zenfield Christian College.
Rev. Loretta Butler received
both a certificate in Christian
training from the American Bap
tist College, and a diploma in
theology from the American
Baptist Theological Seminary.
She is best known for her gospel
musical ministry, having sung
with James Bignon and trav
eled throughout the United
States and the Bahamas. She
has opened for gospel greats such
as Evangelist Shirley Caesar,
Dorothy Norwood, the Williams
Brothers, the Swanee Quintet,
the Rev. R.L. White, the
Christianaires, and the Missis
sippi Mass Choir featuring
Frank Williams.
Ministry: The Butlers are
currently reorganizing Doyle
Grove's sanctuary choir, the
deacon's ministry, and youth
M
Revs Andrew & Loretta Butler
music class. They've formed an
organization called the Samari
tan Ministry, which services
both the indigent and the
caregivers with telephone calls,
prayer requests, visits, birth
day and anniversary gifts and
transportation toservices. Rev.
Loretta Butler serves as a Sun
day School instructor of the Dis
cipleship Class, and spiritual
advisor for both the Samaritans
Ministry and the Deaconess
Ministry. A mentoring program
has alsobeen organized at Doyle
Grove under the Butlers.
The Butlers are former youth
co-pastors of Broadway Baptist
Church, Rev. Loretta Butler has
also worked in the musical min
istry at New Light Baptist
Church in Rantoul, Illinois and
Antioch Baptist Church in Au
gusta, where she was the
founder of the George Thomas
Ensemble.
Goals: The Butlers are seek
ing to make Doyle Grove a more
equipped church for the 21st
century with not only preach
ing, but also teaching. Not only
are they working on the remod
eling of the edifice, they plan to
establish a satellite Bible col
lege at the church in the near
future, as well as a youth musi
calorchestra, and secure a youth
minister to aid in organization
ofayouthchurch at Doyle Grove.
