study for women on the 2nd Friday of each month at 7 p.m. “Remove
the Stink,” is a free singles conference that will be held on March 13,

offering free income tax assistance on Mar. 6, 13, 20 and 27. This
charitable service is provided to low-income individuals and families

of Augusta, will hold a Christian Family Workshop on Sat., Mar. 6,
from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Workshop will include classes for men,
women and youth with topics on: “The Image of a Christian Man,“
“The Image of a Christian Woman,“ “Christian Choices,” “Is Saying

presents the Hampton University Concert Choir at Good Hope

M The Bertha Thompkins Hickson Memorial Oratorical Contest
will be held in the Alpha Center of Bethel AME Church on Apr. 1,
at 6 p.m. Any high school student attending a public or private school
in Richmond County is eligible to enter. Prizes are: S2OO for first
place, $l5O for second place and SIOO for third place. Applications

B New Hope Community Center, Inc., 1336 Conklin Ave. of
Augusta, will hold a reception on Sat., Mar. 13, at 4 p.m. in the Gwen
F. Young room. Sponsored by the General Board of the Global
Ministries and the Women’s Division of the United Methodist
Church.
B 1999 Urban/Rural Youth Leaders Conference, a conference
designed to enhance church youth ministry, will take place Sat.,
Mar. 13, at the Peter S. Knox Conference Center, 326 Greene St. of
Augusta, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The conference will consist of eight
workshops. Classes will be taught by local ministers, professionals
and educators. Workshops are designed to reach a variety of youth
groups in various stages of development. Cost is $36 per person. For
