George Benson, Rick Braun at
Atlanta’s Classic Chastain Park
Classic Chastain, a series of popular con
certs held at the Chastain Park
Amphitheatre in Atlanta, will be featuring
George Benson and Rick Braun on Friday,
June 25, at 7:30 p.m.
Benson has recorded That’s Right, a col
lection of quintessential Benson quiet
storm funk, soul-driven R&B and fluent
jazz, on GRP Records. His guitar-play and
vocals offer a mixed bag of styles, from soft
toned ballads to buoyant, groove-strong
numbers. “My most successful records are
those where I've been the most versatile,
when I play in different genres, Benson
notes. “I can’t make albums anymore where
I’'m working on one style. I always end up
leaving out one portion of my audience.
Besides, my live shows have always had
variety ... that’s what my fanslove.” Benson
sings on several tracks of the That’s Right
album, including riveting guitar-scat ex
cursions and his rich, smooth-toned guitar
playing.
