®Educational Background:
Rev. Phinizy attended elementary and high school in Richmond
County. He attended Random Business College and Augusta
Tech, graduating from the American Baptist Theological Semi
nary Extension Center in 1972.
®wComponents of Ministry:
Rev. Phinizy was liscensed to the ministry in 1962 and ordained
in 1963 by his late father, Rev. H. W. Phinizy, Sr., at the Mt. Zion
Missionary Baptist Church. He served as supply pastor at Mt.
Pleasant Baptist Church in Grovetown, Ga., and as part-time
supply chaplain at Williams Funeral Home chapel. Rev. Phinizy
has served as pastor of Young Rosemary Baptist Church in
Williston, S.C.; Spring Hill Baptist in Augusta, and Smith Grove
Baptist Church in Wrens. He retired from Smith Grove after 25
years as pastor in 1992.
®Ministerial Goals:
Rev. Phinizy aspires to try and love more, serve more, give more,
preach more, pray more, do more and thank God more in the
future than he has in the past. He also hopes to walk that “milky
white way” one of these days.
®Favorite Scripture:
Romans 10:14-15: “How then shall they call on Him in whom they
have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom
they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a
preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent?...”
