Laney Museum
offers classes
for kids
The Lucy Craft Laney Museum
of Black History is offering com
computer component will focus
on developing basic computer
skills and at the same time im
proving basic skills in reading,
math, history and testing.
The art component focuses on
watercolor, oils, pencil, clay and
some crafts. In addition, there
will be character building and
storytelling.
Classes are available for chil
dren ages 6-13 years old. All
classes will be held at the mu
seum from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The

The Legislature convenes Mon
day. Barnes will detail his pro
posal in a speech to the Legasla
ture during the first week of the
session, and the legislation will
be introduced the day after his
speech.
He previewed one recommen
dation later Monday during legis
lative budget heanngs, saving he
is recommending 350 million as
an addition te the current budget
to build a student information
gathering system Membersofthe

hold students and educators re

mance.
In addition to the information
system, Barnes' reform legisia
tion 1s expected to include finan

hours debating whether the school
funding formula should be altered

wait until next year to implement
some of the panel's recommenda
tions to ensure there are no unin
tended financial consequences for
school districts. But he would not
say whether adjusting the equal
