Final Four breakdown
College basketball junkies
across the country have been wait
ing for this particular weekend to
arrive since the very start of the
hoops season. Get ready, pump
kin heads, “The Final Four” in
Indianapolis is set to begin! Yes,
after two weeks of grueling action
on the hardwood the NCAA Tour
nament field of 64 teams from
every section of the nation has
been dwindled down tojust asimple
quartet. Four teams represent
ing the Southeastern Conference,
the Big 10, and of course of the
Atlantic Coast €Conference, are still
alive and vying for a shot at the
coveted National Championship.
Let's review the two national semi
final matchups set for Indy on
Saturday:
Game 1: (1) Michigan State
(29-7) vs. (8) Wisconsin (22-13)
That's right, an all-Big 10 party
will set off the fireworks in the
Hoosier State. Both the MSU
Spartans (Midwest Region
Champs)and the UW Badgers are
battle tested and fundamentally
sound on both ends of the floor.
MSU hasbeatenthe Badgers three
times this season already, but who
cares. Those setbacks won't deter
the West Regional champs from
brandishing their rough and ready
style of defensive pressure against
senior point guard Mateen Cleaves
CSRA IT Conference set for Sheraton April 21-22
BDPA- Information Technology
(IT) Thought leaders ofthe CSRA,
Ga. chapter will host their Third

the 21* Century!” The conference

and the rest of the men from
Lansing from the opening tip.
Badgers head coach Dick Bennett
must devise a new junk defensive
game set toslow down MSU’s red
hot jump shooters. If the Spar
tans are allowed to dominate the
boards and keep the ball out tothe
arc for Morris Peterson or Cleaves
to shoot at will, this game will be
a blowout before halftime. Tom
Izzo, MSU head coach, will in
struct his club to push the ball
against UW to force the Badgers
to play baseline to baseline for a
full 40 minutes. Wisconsin guard

Mike Kelly will try and keep
Cleaves out of the flow of the
offense, but he simply doesn't have

Game 2: (5) Florida (29-7) vs.
(8) North Carolina (22-13)
Florida head coach Billy “The
Kid" Donovan has got the young
Gators growling a year early!
Freshmen Justin Hamilton
(Sarasota-Booker High product),
Brett Nelson, and Donnell Harvey
are just three of the first vear
young guns for the Heels to watch
out for when thetwo clubs go head
to head in the nightcap game in
Indy! At 6’3", Hamilton is a big
physical point guard that can pose
a huge problems on the glass, as
the Cowboys found out firsthand
during the first half o their “Elite
8" showdown in Syracuse last
week. IFUNC point guard Ed Cota
doesn’t box Hamilton out on the
offensive end of the floor, North
Carolina will be in trouble in the
first half. Even with 7-foot center

Brendan Haywood acting as
UNC's tower of power inside, he'll
need help. UF's Udonis Haslem is
a handful todeal with underneath.
With the athleticism of a Charles
Barkley and the muscle of a young
Karl Malone, Haslem can force
Haywood out on the floor when
Carolina goes man-to-man. That
will open up the floor for the East
Reghonal MVP Mike Millertodrive
and create high percentage shots
for his teammates including 3-
point shooter Teddy Dupay. And
what about that Gator press? It
has been a great rnide for UNC
head coach Bill Guthridge, but UF
1s holding all the aces in this con
test. But we can't completely
forget about Carolina’s Final Four
tradition and experience can we,
Mr. Jordan?
