ters nationwide.
Members must be in the top 10
percent of the class, have the req
uisite 3.2 grade point average and
a minimum of 30 semester hours
from a regionally accredited col
lege.

Hightower announces candidacy
for Aiken County Council, District 8
AIKEN
At the encouragement of
friends and acquaintances,
Aiken County Councilman
Willar H. Hightower, Jr., re
cently announced that he will be
running for re-election to Aiken
County Council, District 8. “I
felt compelled to offer for re
election. Supporters say I have
been effective as a County Coun
cilman for fourteen years,”
Hightower said.
In his announcement,
Hightower doesn’t waste any
time speaking of the experience
he has brought to Aiken County
Council such as procurement,
computer knowledge, and man
agement skills. contributions he
has brought and continues to
bring to the table such as pro
curement, computer knowledge,
and management skills.
One issue that is high on
Hightower’s list for this year is
Census 2000. He urges every
family unit to complete their
Census 2000 form and mail it in.
“This could mean Big Bucks for
Aiken County,” he added.
Hightower, who claimshe has
not missed a scheduled County
Council meeting in fourteen
years, says he continues to be
