cations for their fourth Dream Home Raffle
fundraising project. Only 2000 tickets will be
sold at SIOO each for the opportunity to win the
$170,000 home. You charge your purchase on

Constructed by Toxey M. Smith, L.L.C. in
Farmington subdivision, Dream Home IV has
approximately 2,350 square feet and features
three bedrooms, three full baths, great room
with gas log fireplace, dining area, kitchen with
breakfast area and pantry, laundry room, fin
ished bonus room, double garage and many
other amenities. The home has a brick exterior,
wooden deck, sodded and landscaped yard and
automatic sprinkler system.
With funds raised through the Dream Home
IV Raffle, the Family Y will refurbish Wilson
Center gymnasium flooring. Increased usage of
the gymnasium for youth sports and teen pro
grams has necessitated the flooring replace
ment in order for The Family Y to continue
providing a safe, conformable environment for
youth and adult programs.
Raffle ticket applications can be obtained at
Wilson, Wheeler and Southside Family Y Cen
ters, Georgia Bank & Trust, First Union, Re
gions Bank, South Trust, Wachovia, Kroger Food
Stores and Pump N Shop locations. The initial
drawing of 100 finalists will be held Thursday,
September 28, 2000 and the Final Drawing and
Dream Home giveaway will be held Thursday,
October 12, 2000.

Oprah brings Personal
Growth Summit to Atlanta
Oprah Winfrey will appearin Atlanta on Thurs
day, June 22, Bp.m. at the Atlanta Civic Center
to speak about personal growth and empower
ment. The Atlanta eventis part of a four-market
series, which also includes the Fox Theatre in
Detroit on June 19, the Arie Cown theatre in
Chicago on June 26, and the Shrine Auditorium
in Los Angeles on June 29.
Oprah explains, “Ibelieve that, given the choice,
people choose to do better. I try to use my life to
do better and to help people realize their full
potential. The Personal Growth Summit is my
way of helping others discover the best in them
selves and live happier, more fulfilled lives.”

Knights sign point
guard David Gleaton
The Aiken Technical College Knights signed
David Gleaton of Williston-Elko High School to a
letter of intent earlier this week.
Gleaton, a student athlete, who carries a 3.9
grade point average, is a point guard, who aver
aged 19 points, nine rebounds, five assists and
‘hree steals per game while playing for Williston-
Zlko. He was named a second team All Area
>layer.
Gleatonisthe seventh player the Knights have
signed I recent weeks in a rebuilding effort
ollowing a 30-3 1999-2000 season. He joins
Anthony Hawthorne of North Augusta High
ScHool, Shannon Martin and Renaldo Norman of
aréenwood High School, Jeff Battle of North
Augusta High School, Thomas Mims of Cross
Creek High School, And Anthony Sweat of
Jréenbriar High School. The team is expected to
sigh four more.
“David will be an outstanding student athlete
it ATC," Knights Coach Charles Welch said. “He
yrovides leadership and a very high skill level
)otb on the court and in the classroom. We
souldn’t be happier to have a young man of such
