ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
The Augusta-Richmond County Housing & Neighborhood Devel
opment Department (HND), on behalf of the Owner, New Hope
Community Center, will receive sealed bids for Renovation of
New Hope Community Center, Project Number HND-00-
CD-002, until 11:00 A.M. (EST) on June 23, 2000 in the Confer
ence Room located at One, 10* Street, Suite 430, Augusta,
Georgia 30901, at which time and place all bids will be publicly
opened and read aloud. Bids received after this time will not be
considered. 2
On June 2, 2000 at 10:00 A.M. (EST), HND will conduct a pre-bid
conference at the project site, New Hope Community Center,
1336 Conklin Avenue, Augusta, Georgia 30901. Site Visits for
contractors not attending the pre-bid conference will be arranged
by the HND staff to anyone who desires an on site visit. All
interested bidders are encouraged to attend the pre-bid
conference.
Copies of the bidding documents will be available after the pre-bid
conference beginning on June 5, 2000 at the Augusta-Rich
mond County Housing & Neighborhood Development De
partment, One 10* Street, Suite 430, Augusta, Georgia
30901.
A Non-Collusion Affidavit must be supplied with each bid that
exceeds SIO,OOO. HND reserves the right to waive irregularities
and to reject any or all bids. Failure to submit a bid properly shall
result in rejection of the bid.
For all contracts that exceed SIO,OOO, the successful bidder will be
required to furnish and pay for satisfactory Performance and
Payment bonding for 100% of the contract price. Attention is called
to the fact that not less than the minimum of salaries and wages,
as set forth in the specifications, must be paid on this project. The
Contractor must ensure that employees and applicants for em
ployment are not discriminated against because of race, color,
creed, sex, handicap, or national origin.
The successful bidder will be required, to the best possible and
greatest extent feasible, accomplish the following:
1. A goal of awarding at least 20 percent of the dollar value of
construction contracts to Minority and/or Women Business Enter
prises (MBE/WBE) or General Contractors with MBE/WBE par
ticipation.
2. In accordance with Section 3 of the U.S. Department of Housing
and Urban Development Act of 1968, all construction contractors,
to the maximum extent feasible, shall provide training, contract
ing, and employment opportunities to low income residents resid
ing in Augusta-Richmond County.
The Owner, New Hope Community, intends to award a contract on
the basis of the lowest and most responsible bid for the work
described in the bid documents.
No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days subse
quent to the opening of bids without the prior written consent of
the Augusta-Richmond County Housing and Neighborhood Devel
opment Department.
