Father-Son Breakfast
The Male Room Foundation, Inc.
will be spensoring a Father-Son
Break{ast on Saturday, June 17,
2000 at 8:30 a.m. at the Sheraton
Hotel. The cost of this affairis S3O
per ticket which includes one fa
ther and one son. The theme of
this event is “Health and Healing:
Awareness For the Male Popula
tion.” The purpose of this historic
event is to not only heighten the
strength and bond between the
male youth of our community and
the adult male, but to increase
awareness ofhealthissues as they
relate to the male population.
Even though this affair is called
a “Father-Son” Breakfast, men of
the community who do not have
sons are asked to sponsor an area
male youth and bring him to this
event. Our young males need to
see that there are many male role
models in our community. This

she worked as CBS affiliate
WRDW TV in Augusta as news
director.

founded some three years ago on
the principles of uplifting schol
arship, increasing health aware
ness, developing strong Chris
tian principles, morals and val
ues. This foundation is com
prised of many professional per
sons of the Augusta-Richmond
County community who volun
teer of their time and services
without seeking individual atco
lades or recognition.

be used to award scholarships to

Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and
has held numerous offices since
1997. He received an award for
the highest average among Al
pha Men in the State of Georgia
in 1998, and highest average and
outstanding service awards in
1999 and 2000 from the chapter.
An honor roll or Deans List
student since his sophomore
year, he was inducted into the
Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society
prior to his graduation. He has
interned for Inroads, The Geor
gia Ports Authority and the Sa
vannah Chatham Board of Edu
cation.
Job offers have come from St.
Josephs Hospital, the Memorial
Medical Center and the Savan
nah-Chatham Board of Educa
tion. He plans to work for a couple
of years before attending Geor
gia Tech to work on a Masters
degreein Computer Technology.
Regimental
retirement
review planned
The Signal Corps Regimen
tal Retirement Review will be
held Friday, June 16 at 9:00
a.m.onßarton Field. The event
is part of the annual Regimen
tal Week for Signal personnel.
Those retiring represent more
than 300 years of service to the
United States of America.
In the event of inclement
weather, the ceremony will be
held in Alexander Hall on
Chamberlain Avenue.
The public is invited.

Tyler graduates with
honors from A.R. Johnson
Alexis J. Tyler will graduate
with honors from A.R. Johnson
Health Science and Engineering
High School on June 7, 2000.
Miss Tyler is involved with the
gifted program, National Honors
Society and the Foreign Language
Honor Society. She has won a
Presidential Scholarshipto Albany
State University where she will
major in Biology.
She earned a 4.0 GPA and is
ranked fourth in her class. She
has received a plaque for having
the highest cumulative GPA
among the A.R. Johnson Satur
day Learning Academy students.
Miss Tyler also possesses the high
est average in the Science
Practicum Health Occupation
class.

nounces the recent approval of
resurfacing 9.279 miles ofroadsin
Richmond County through the
Local Assistance Roads Program
(LARP). Therequest was granted
by the newly appointed Commis
sioner ofthe Department of Trans
portation, Tom Coleman.
“It was my pleasure to approve
the request of Rep. Connell to add
additional mileage to the road
improvement projectin Richmond
County,” Commissioner Coleman
said. “In cooperation with our
state and local leaders, the Geor
gia DOT is committed to building
and maintaining top quality roads
