Augusta Champions add $4.8 million to local economy

Champions on Thursday, Novem
ber 9, 2000 during the Breakfast
of Championsheld at the Sheraton
Augusta Hotel.

ing or convention to Augusta.

firefighters hit the streets and
filled their boots to benefit the
Muscular Dystrophy Association
and those we serve. These heroes
raised over $28,000 with help from
the citizens of the CSRA!

AUGUSTA
T-Bones Steakhouse of Augusta
has been voted as “Best Steak in
Augusta” since 1987. They should
also be credited with being a top
Thanksgiving provider to many
foster kids in Georgia and South
Carolina. In 1999, over 350 kids
and family members were provided
with Thanksgiving dinner.
Theideastarted in Augusta with
Jerry Scheer, owner of T-Bones,
and his brother Henry Scheer,
owner of Mally’s Bagels & Grits.
Both had seen information on such
a program in Savannah and de
cided to start a similar project in
Augusta. Henry Scheer heads the
project which is hosted at Jerry
Scheer’s, T-Bones on Washington

for all their efforts to help find a
cure for neuromuscular diseases.

vides the turkeys. Wife Saver cooks
the turkeys and gravy as well as
the stuffing that is purchased by
T-Bones. The Fresh Market con
tributes cranberry sauce, Coca-
Cola provides the drinks, Kroger
furnishes hot dogs and Heavenly
