Red Cross, Applebee’s
establish relief fund
As “America’s Favorite
Neighbor,” Applebee’s has
formed a neighborhood.relief
program in partnership with
the American Red Cross Di
saster Relief Fund. This cam
paign is an easy way for
Applebee’s guests and associ
ates to support the needs of
those affected by the events of
September 11 and to promote
America’s unity and patrio
tism in this time of tragedy.
Restaurant guests and as
sociates can purchase a paper
American flag for a rninimum
donation of sl, or an amount
of their choosing. All pro
ceeds will go directly to the
American Red Cross Disaster
Relief Fund. Guests can
choose to either post their
flag in the restaurant or take
it home with them as a sym
bol of support for America and
the pride of a neighborhood
l united.
~ “Applebee’s wasshocked and
' saddened by the events of Sep
' tember 11,” said Steve Grove,
Applebee’s local franchise ex
ecutive. “Everyone is looking
for a way to help their neigh
bors in need. We are part of
the neighborhood and we de
veloped this campaign to pro
vide an easy way for all of us to
make a difference. We are
committed to doing what we
can during this time to help
those affected by this tragedy.
Applebee’s International
and its franchise partners ini
tiated the neighborhood relief
program with abase donation
of $1 million to the disaster
relief fund. The campaign
drive runs through October
19,2001.
Each of Applebee’s more
than 1,300 locations is a con
venient place for people
throughout the community to
make a small donation in a
simple way, yet still make a
big difference. Applebee’s In
ternational and its franchise
partners stand beside those
neighbors who are America’s
heroes.
