of 2002 membership directory

Family Y schedules
School’s Out Prime Time
When Richmond County schools are not in
session Friday, October 19, the Family Y has an
exciting day of activities planned for children 5-
12 years old. School’s Out Prime Time, held at
Wheeler Center, 3532 Wheeler Road, ofters arts
and crafts, games, sports, swimming and more!
The program includes: 7:00 a.m. (early drop-off),
9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. (scheduled activities) and
6:00 p.m. (late pick-up). Parents may register
children at their Prime Time Discovery pro
gram sites. The fee is S2O per child (pre-regis
tered) of $25 per child (registering at Wheeler
Center the day of the program). A minimum of
15 children must be registered in order for the

announces new journalists
WJBF NewsCHANNEL 6 is proud to announce
two new members to the newsroom.
Barb Dawson comes from Chadwick, Illinois.
She’s been a familiar face and voice in the CSRA
for over two years. Dawson can also be heard
delivering the news weekday mornings on the
Clear Channel radio stations Y-105 and WBBQ.
Also joining the team is Barbara Rodriguez.
Rodriguez, who is fluent in Spanish, comes from
Miami where she worked as an assignment
editor for CBS O & O, WFOR-TV.
Christmas House
applications
FORT GORDON, GA
Applications for Christmas House will be
accepted not through November 15. The pro
gram, now in its 35" year, ensures military
families are able to provide a traditional holi
day for their children.
ID card holders who have a financial need
are eligible for the program.
Applications are available in each military
unit, the American Red Cross on Fort Gordon,
Religious Information Center, Officers’ Wives
Club Thrift Shop, Army Community Service
and the Community Life Center.

Black Caucus Annual
Weekend - Youth Summit
The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety in
cooperation with the Georgia Legislative Black
Caucus, Inc.,isco-sponsoring the Annual Youth
Summit during the 19* Annual Legislative
Weekend.
Youth ages 14-18 will be given an opportu
nity to share their ideas and concerns about
what constitutes a “safe community” with
Caucus members and others in leadership.
The areas tobe discussed include teen driving,
citizenship, health, violence and the media.
The talking papers and recommendations from
this summit will be reviewed for inclusion in
the GLBC upcoming legislative agenda.
We have contacted the GLBC members
from five regions of Georgia and provided
them with the opportunity to invite four (4)
young people to take part in the Youth Sum
mit. The Summit will take place on Saturday,
October 13, 2001, as part of the GLBC Week
end. Accommodations for Saturday night,
October 13, will be provided at a hotel for four
(4) Richmond County young people (2 per
room) and two chaperones (2 per room) you
select. Tickets for the Banquet Gala will also
be provided for the young people and their
chaperones.
