Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. celebrates Founder’s Day
October 16 marked the 69
anriversary of Chi Eta Phi
Sowority, Inc. The members
of the local chapter, Phi Chi
celebrated the founding of Chi
Eta Phi Sorority, Inc., at the
Partridge Inn. Sandra Bailey,
anti-basileus (vice president)
presided during the ceremony.

special tribute to the founder,
Aliene C. Ewell and renew
their commitment to the pur
poses of the sorority. This is
also a time when the local
chapters honor a member as
Soror of the Year and recog
nize charter members. Ann
Robinson, immediate past
basileus (president) was
named Soror of the Year dur
ing this year’s celebration.
One of the most treasured
memories of this Founder’s
Day was for the members of
the local chapter Phi Chi, to
witness the newly elected
basileus (president) Sarah
Glover seated beside the first
basileus of Phi Chi Chapter,
Mary Jones Brown. Through
thevision, patience, strength,
and endurance of Mary Jones
Brown, Phi Chi was chartered
on May 21, 1977. Thirty-four

registered nurses and student

tures and diverse ethnicback
grounds. There are over 78
graduate chaptersand 38 un
dergraduate chapters located
in 26 states, District of Co
lumbia, St. Thomas US Vir
gin Islands, and Monrovia
Liberia, West Africa.
The focus of the sorority is
mentoring, recruitment for
the title song “Footloose,”
went from Zold to platinum to
milti-platinum inrecord time.
Now, a brand new musical has
theatreaudienceson their feet.
“Footloose” is the story of a
free spirited kid who reminds

to be young. With an explo
sion of music and dance for all
generations, “Footloose”
promises tobe an exciting the
