nis Center will hold its 20
anniversary celebration on
Saturday, October 27, 2001,
from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The day will include a pre
sentation to honor special com
munity leaders that were in
strumental int he construc
tion of the award winning fa
cility and recognize people
whohavehelpedinthecenter’s
commitment to the commu
nity. Exhibition pro-celebrity
and pro-pro matches will be
played and free lessons and
.the opportunity to hit for prizes
'will be available.
This special celebration will

Parking deck
may lure BOE
downtown
In a special called meeting
on Tuesday, October 23,2001,
the Downtown Development
Authority of the city of Au
gusta announced that it had
successfully concluded nego
tiations with the Richmond
County Board of Education to
present a proposal to the city
county commission to lease
the parking deck at 9* and
Greene Streets in order to
induce the Board to relocate
theirexecutive offices to Broad
Street.
Sanford Loyd, chairman of
the Downtown Development
Authority, said that their pro
posal should lead to the relo
cation of approximately 250
new empioyees to downtown.
“It is a major event in the
continued revitalization for
downtown,” Loyd said.
