Museum’s blues and jazz to attract big audience
When legendary jazz saxophonist
Skipp Pearson and his band Jazzology
take the stage November 2, 2001 at the
South Carolina State Museum, people
will be groovin’ to great music all over
the museum, in five different locations
with 10 bands total.
Sound like a party? Definitely!
Add to Pearson’s performance the
versatile sounds of Drink Small, “the
Blues Doctor,” th.e boss brass of Bridge
port, the new slide blues of the Jeff
Liberty Band and the newly-revved up,
big band sound of the Tony Torre Or
chestra and you’'ve got the traditionally
terrific times normally had by attendees
to the museum’s annual fundraiser,
“Michelin Presents the South Carolina
Celebration of Blues and Jazz.”
In addition to the fine performers
already mentioned, the 2001 edition fea
tures the great blues shouter Nappy
Brown, who always brings down the
house, who has been in such demand
that he has become a staple of the
celebration. Singing songs like “Night
Time is the Right Time,” and “Who,”
Brown’s physical performance and win
ning style always leaves audiences call
ing for more.

mental prowess of jazz guitarist Jim
Mings will be experienced for the first
time at the event, and fellow newcom

Completing the picture is the mus
