of saving lives. Help to make a difference by volunteering
assistance at blood drives. Volunteers may work two, three or
four hour shifts. Can you help greet the public, assist with
registration, be a Buddy Blood Drop Mascot or help with
serving food? Ifyou can, then please call Lanie Wilson at the
Center at 737-4551. There is a tremendous need for help
during drives at churches, temples and other locations. Con
sider volunteering at blood drives as part of youth leadership
projects.

assistance with filing 2001 taxes. Free electronic filing avail
able. Dates for assistance are Saturdays through February
and March, from9a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Assistance will take

EMount Calvary Baptist Church, 1260 Wrightsboro Rd.
of Augusta, will celebrate its 29" Pastoral Anniversary of its
pastor, Rev. Clyde Hill Sr., on Sun., Feb. 17, at 2:30 p.m. The
theme will be “Giving Honor to Whom Honor is Due in 2002.”

Saturday, February 23,2002 at the Lucy C. Laney High School
Gym. Area middle schools will compete at 4 p.m. High school,
churches and civic organizations will compete at 6 p.m. The
bowl is played similar to the popular Jeopardy television
program. Students in middle and high schools are eligible to
participate. Awards and medals will be given to winning

wEducational Background:
Rev. Martin received his B.A. degree in Social Studies
from Benedict College in Columbia, S.C. in 1960, M.A.
degree from Jacksonville Theological Seminary in Jack
sonville, Fla. in 1997 and his D. Min. degree from Lake
Charles Bible College in Lake Charles, La. in 2001. His
other studies came from Augusta College and Fort Valley
State College in Fort Valley, Ga.
wComponents of Ministry:
Besides being the pastor of Springfield, Rev. Martin fo
cuses on teaching and counseling with an emphasis on
teens. He works with them, with procedures for respon
sible choices in life and understanding God’s will within
these choices. He also attends special ministry needs with
senior citizens. One of his strong points in his ministry is
premarital and marital counseling. A powerful home
bears a powerful church. Rev. Martin’s focuses on the
community, Springfield Village Park, has an historic
significance. He is a member of the Augusta Transit
‘Citizen Irivolvertient Committee.

Continue to work to lead people to accepting Jesus Christ
as Lord of people’s lives. To teach them the way of
salvation, helping them to become productive Christian
citizens who are interested in making a difference in the
world.
