Atlanta offers variety of Black History experiences for the entire family

This February in Atlanta,
visitors and residents can
touch America’s past and ex
perience special events that
will celebrate, appreciate and
educate during Black History
Month.
7 Stages theater opens two
plays this month -the world
premiere of “Hush (Compos
ing Blind Tom Wiggins),” an
abstract narrative of the life of
musician Thomas Greene
Wiggins, born blind in Geor
Emory U. hosts great Japanese literature on film
ATLANTA

present the semi-annual Japa
nese Film Festival. The se
riesof three filmsare adapted
from Japanese novels.

Ogai Mori, Sansho Dayutrans

center hosts “The Civil Rights
Movement: A Short Course,”
a discussion with renowned
author Vickie Crawford and
other civil rights experts.
At the Michael C. Carlos
Museum, guests canreach the
far past in the New Egyptian
Galleries, which permanently
host mummies, coffins and
artifacts from ancient Nubia,
and at the “Wrapped in Pride:
Ghanaian Kente and African-
comparable to the greatest
Greek tragedies. Theplotis
set in 12t century Japan,
and depicts an individual’s
coming to terms with an op
pressive feudal structure.
