B Shepeard Community Blood Centerisin the business
of saving lives. Help to make a difference by volunteering
assistance at blood drives. Volunteers may work two, three or
four hour shifts. Can you help greet the public, assist with
registration, be a Buddy Blood Drop Mascot or help with
serving food? Ifyou can, then please call Lanie Wilson at the
Center at 737-4551. There is a tremendous need for help
during drives at churches, temples and other locations. Con
sider volunteering at blood drives as part of youth leadership
projects.
B Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 623
Crawford Ave. of Augusta, will host the Sixth Episcopal
District Founder’s Day celebration Feb. 21-23. A Founder’s
Day Parade will be held on Sat., Feb. 23, startingat 10:30 a.m.
from the Bell Auditorium and ending at Lucy Craft Laney High

Committee of the church is sponsoring a Musical Extrava
;ganza on Sun., Feb. 24, at 4 p.m. Admission is free and the
concert will be held in the church sanctuary. Featured will be

EThe 10* District Ushers Monthly Meeting will be held
on Sat., Feb. 23, at 10 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Baptist

l Second Ebenezer Church, 4510 Old Waynesboro Rd. of
Hephzibah, will sponsor the harvest truck on Sat., Feb. 23, at

B The 18th Annual Black History Bowl will take place
Saturday, February 23, 2002 at the Lucy C. Laney High School
Gym. Area middle schools will compete at 4 p.m. High school,
churches and civic organizations will compete at 6 p.m. The
bowl is played similar to the popular Jeogpardy television
program. Students in middle and high schools are eligible to
participate. Awards and medals will be given to winning
teams. Study guides are available upon request. If your
church or organization would like to enter a team, please
contact Raymond McCoy at 793-4402.
B Old Storm Branch Baptist Church of Clearwater,
S.C. will host the Stormettes Girls Ministry Black History
Program on Sat., Feb. 23, at 5 p.m. in the Family life Center.
The church will also hold its Annual Black History Program on
Sun., Feb. 24, at 4 p.m. Speaker will be Mrs. Patricia Abney

Guest speaker will be Chaplain (Brig. Gen.) David H. Hicks,
deputy chief of chaplains. The event is open to the public with
proceeds going to the Chaplain’s Crisis Ministry Fund, which
