Lucille Lane
a temporary loss of staff, out

accumulate. Because of
Lane’s attention to detail and
constant encouragement to
her fellow employees there
was a enormous reduction of
the backlog. Lane displays a
positive attitude when given
additional tasks and can be
heard encouraging her co
workers that any goal can be
achieved. Her commitment
and dedication to customer
service are further strength
ened by her willingness to
train and share information
Award as a Magnet School of
Excellence.
Davidson is also a finalist
for the prestigious Dr. Ronald
Simpson Distinguished Merit
Award. The winner will be
announced at the Magnet

She brings a courteous and
caring attitude to the work
environment. Her co-work
ers say she personifies the
true meaning of customer ser
vice. In her spare time, Lane
enjoysreading, decoratingher
home and helping her hus
band in the family garden.

Yvette Allen is a program
support assistant for the Spe
cialty Care Service Line at
Schools of America Confer
ence in Houston, Texas on
April 30.
John S. Davidson Fine Arts
School is one of a handful of
schools —selected out of more
than 4,000 — to be named a
the Downtown Division. Asa
collateral duty, she is the au
tomated data package appli
cation coordinator (ADPAC)
for both the Specialty Care
and Primary Care Service
Lines. To expand her knowl
edge in diagnosing computer
hardware problems, Allen
taught herself many of the
new and old software pro
grams. She provides training
to the secretarial staff and
develops the training materi
als for these education pro
grams. This training has not
only made a difference in the
computer skill level of her co
workers, but has also made it
possible to meet the 40-hour
continuing education require
ment. A major accomplish
ment for Allen is that the
secretary’s manual is now
available on the medical
center’s e-mail information
system (VANIS).
Allen is an active member
of Piney Grove Baptist
Church. She providesclerical
support to the pastor and
teaches Sunday School to the
youth of the church.

RCAEOP names Dr. Larke the
2002 Administrator of the Year '

hasnamed Dr. Charles Larke
as this year’s winner of the
Administrator of the Year
award.
The selection committee
cited Dr. Larke’s concern,
commitment and continuous
support for office profession
als as the number one reason
why Dr. Larke, superinten
dent of Richmond County
schools, earned this year’s
award.

Dr. Larke has always demon

on Monday, March 18, 2002
at 5:30 p.m. Dr. Arthur S.
Tamkin of Augusta, former
clinical psychologist with the
Dept. of Veterans Affairs, will
discuss “Psychological As
pects of Hearing Loss.” Dr.
Tamkin has an AB degree
from Harvard and a Ph.D.
degree from Duke Univer
sity. He is also a member of
the Society of KI, an honor
ary scientific society, and is
strated support for office pro
fessionals, even in the begin
ningofhiseducational careey.
“Hehasalwaysrespected us,”
Ms. Williams said. It is the
second time Dr. Larke has
won the award. He also won
the award in 1989. .
RCAEOP member Doris
Parks said Dr. Larke’s work
system wide, including his
commitment to student
achievement, also helped him
win this year’s award.
“I am truly honored to be
recognized by such an out
standing group of employees,”
Dr. Larke said. “Without our
office professionals, our school
system could not operate.”
