Wars 2002, presented by the Augusta Martial Arts Academy. Other victors of the
night included Shannon Hudson, Terrie Hicks, Walter “Pee Wee” McCall, Gene
Silas, Mike Grivas, Brendan Dumont, and Rory Singer. In title bouts, Steve
Headden emerged with the professional middieweight MMA-ISCF Southeastern
Title; Stephen Thompson won the amateur light heavyweight IKF Southeastern
Title; Cam McHargue defeated Ruben Lopez for the professional light middle
weight MMA-ISCF US Title; and Lane Collyer outpointed Kevin Hudson in 10
rounds for the professional heavyweight kickboxing IKF US Title.

Mcintyre hosts first amateur golf classic

Golfers, get ready to tee off
at the First Annual Ed
Mclntyre Amateur Golf Clas
sic on Saturday and Sunday,
April 27 and 28, at the Au
gusta Golf Club on Highland
Avenue.
This spectacular event will
provide scholarships for dis
advantaged youth to take part
in the local First Tee Golf
program, which offerslessons
taught by certified instructors
at the 40-acre facility on Dam
ascus Road. Participates ages
8 to 17 will learn to play like
the pros.

The two-day extravaganza
is sponsored by the Ed
Mclntyre Foundation, Inc.
The goal of the Foundation is
to have 75 to 100 youths en
tered into the First Tee pro
gram annually.
Tournament participants
will enjoy wine and free hors
d’oeuvres during registration
on Friday, April 26, at the
Ramada Plaza from 7 to 11
pm. On April 27, an Old
Georgia and South Carolina,
raising thousands of dollars
for the United Way. Last year
the tournament contributed
$7,000 to the organization.
Event coordinators hope to
exceed that number this year
and raise even more.
There are different levels
of sponsorship, and only the
first 60 teams signed up will
