| have a hunger
to scale mountains with the power of my voice. Bequtiful
-melodies, notes and songs that can capture a whole
audience and freeze them in time. My inspiration, Marian
Anderson, taught me that | could use my voice to move
people, not just entertain them. She was more than just an
opera diva, she was a symbol of courage and inspiration.
She was the first African American woman to perform at
the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. She's loved now
as much as she was loved then. Marian Anderson is @
part of my history, American History, Black History.
Marian Anderson (18971993) :
Her beautiful voice and quiet courage made her a trailblazer
for African American opera singers, classical musicians and
concert recitalists. in 1955 Marian Anderson, already world
famous, became the first African American woman to perform
at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City.
