Human rights group, aid agencies press U.N.
for strong measures to curb Darfur violence

ment continue to supply
them with weapons and
back their attacks with
Driver’s License Automated
Renewal Program. A criti
cal factor in the success of
this program is the ability of
DMVS to mail a renewal
application to the correct
address. Georgia state law
requires that drivers correct
any change of address with
in 60 days of moving.

should extend that arms
embargo to the Sudanese
government and impose
travel sanctions and asset
freezes on key govern
ment and military offi
cials, the group said.
It also should ensure
that displaced people
can return home safely
and that the government
provide reparations -
possibly from oil rev
enues — to victims, the
organization said.

national aid agencies
working in Sudan said

pliance measures and
agree to implement them
if there is no clear and
sustained progress.”
The violence in Darfur
began when Sudan’s Arab
dominateds government
was accused of unleashing
Arab tribal © militias
against non-Arab African
farmers after attacks by
two rebel groups.
