I'he Augusta Housing & Economic
Development Department
Announces the availability of grant funds and low-interest loans,
through the “Homeowner Rehabilitation Program”. This program
is designed for residents of Richmond County to perform major
repairs and rehabilitation work on single-family residential homes.
Interested parties must be a U.S. Citizens or legal resident alien.
The total household annual income must be 80% of the Area Median
Income and cannot exceed the figures which appears below:

} Property Eligibility Criteria:
1. The home to be repaired must be occupied and serve
as the primary residence if the applicant.
2. The property must be in the geographical boundaries
defined by the department
3. Applicant must have clear title to the property.
4. Taxes and insurance policy must be current.
5. The house must be structurally sound and the total
rehabilitation cost to the structure cannot exceed $30,000.00.
6. The following repairs are allowable: Structural, Roof,
Electrical, Plumbing, HV AC, Doors, and Windows, Wall & Floors.
Grants & Loans
The “Homeowner Rehabilitation Program” is grant and loan
program that offers qualified homeowner's monetary assistance
to perform repairs to their homes. Higher grant awards are
awarded to qualified homeowners who reside within specialized
“Target Area” communities.
Low interest loans are available to qualified homeowners.
The aggregate amount an applicant can borrow is $30.000.00.
The rate (number of years) is twenty (20) years and the interest
rate is 3%.

The Augusta Public Transit Department has established a Disadvantaged Busi
ness Enterprise Program (DBE Program) in accordance with regulations of the
U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), 49 CFR Part 26. For purposes
this DBE Program, Transit proposes to set its overall DBE goal utilizing all infor
mation available o it, induding information received from the public in response
to this notice.
The DBE goal that Augusta Public Transit proposes is that 4.11% of all DOT|
funds that the Department will expend in DOT-assisted contraces for FY 2004
will be let to qualified DBE firms.
This proposed goal and its rationale are available for public inspection duri
normal business hours from 8:30 am. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at
the Augusta Public Transit Department, 1535 Fenwick Street, Augusta, Georgia
30904 and the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Office ar 501 Greene Street,
Suite 304, Augusta, Georgia 30901 for 30 days beginning January 14, 2005.
The Transit Department and Federal Transit Administration will accept com
ments on the goal for 45 days from the date of this notice. The Augusta Public
Transit Department goal of 4.11% may be adjusted by the information received
in the next 45 days.
