C-SPAN founder to speak at
Paine College Commencement
Paine College will welcome
C-SPAN founder and chief
executive officer, Brian Lamb,
as the guest speaker for the
2005 Commencement on
May 1, at the Bell Auditorium.
The ceremony begins at 9 a.m.
and is free to the public.
Mr. Lamb, a Lafayette, Indi
ana native, is a graduate of Pur
due University. After college he
joined the Navy and was
assigned to the White House
during the Johnson adminis
tration and to the Pentagon
public affairs office during the
Vietham War. Lamb also
worked as a freelance reporter
for UPI Audio, a Senate press
secretary and a White House
teleccommunications policy
staffer.
Lamb began publishing a
biweekly ncwsllcttcr. The
Media Report, in 1974. He
also covered communication
issues as a Washington burcau
chief for Cablevision magazine.

Hill Hall Gala with a celebration

today to present the 2005
Hill Hall Benefit Gala dur
ing a campus kick-off cele
bration in front of historic
Hill Hall. The kick-off cele
bration served as the formal
announcement of the gala,
which will be held on Satur
day, May 7, at 8 p.m. at the
Savannah International
Trade & Convention Cen
ter.
During the conference,
this years Hill Hall Gala

Inc., discussed highlights of
this year’s event. “Each indi

ing, rhythmic dancing
and many more surprises
including a performance
by Augusta’s newest
Crunch Gospel hip-hop
group, the Youngins and
step dance routine by the
Nubian Princess’ Drill
Team.

employs 275 people and
offers three 24-hour television
networks, C-SPAN, C-SPAN
2 and C-SPAN 3. C-SPAN
also programs WCSPE, an FM
radio station which serves the
Washington/Baltimore area.

In addition to his duties
as C-SPAN CEO, Lamb
serves as the host of
Booknotes, a C-SPAN pro
gram that features inter
views of authors of nonfic
tion. He has published
three books based on the
series.
