BREAK THE RUDE CYCLE: Escape the trap of hurt feelings
By MARY SULLIVAN
Special to the Augusta Focus
We are going to
encounter rude disre
spectful people almost
everyday of our lives.
This does not give us as
Christians the right to be
rude and disrespectful.
We don’'t know what
recent event has hap
pened in a person'’s life to
make them act offensive.
They may have man
thoughts going throug[:
their hcags. They may
not care about manners
the moment that we
encounter them. Maybe
someone was rude and
disrespectful to them and
they are trying to figure
it out. We should not get
upset when someone is
rude. Just pass it off as
they are having a diffi
cule day. Better yet, bless
them with a prayer for
them to gain peace. If

someone says or does

your feelings:
Concentrate on loving
the other person (1 Peter

you get away from being
self-centered or self-con

You can lovingly say to
ourself, “That’s his (or

Realize that you may
not see things clearly or
may misinterpret some
thing. Realize that you
may have set yoursclfy up
to be hurt. RealiZe that
you may be too sensitive,
or that your expectations
may be unreasonable.
Realize the other per
son may like you, but
not desire an intimate
closeness. Some people
may have so many close
friends that they can't
develop the intimate
relationship you would
like.
Realize that there are
cliques or in-groups that
will not accept you
because of your social
status, clothes, finances
