My participation in the movement to oust Austin Rhodes of the air
waves is rooted in change for a better Augusta. In a critique of MLKs
speech concerning Vietnam and his newfound revelation of his critics’
mindset, we see that peace and nonviolence are the hallmark of a move
ment of change, thus a movement for justice. Not a beneficence for one
race, but for all. He was ever so concerned that poor whites were hood
winked by the power structure; that until they opened their eyes,
America would never be the America that we speak so proudly of.
In fact, those detractors, induding many from his own race, were more
of a threat than most would fathom. They were truly the “WMD” —
Weapons of Mass Deception. Progress was halted because they stood
front and center declaring unity, while at the time fighting behind the
scenes in the legal and political system to preserve their weglth and stan
dard of living,
We have peace as the core ingredient in this movement. The only
way we will be deterred is if we (but not for a moment too long) pon
der whether our peaceful cry is destroying our future
MIK talks about his concerns with this matter in his own race and
Western arrogance. We can compare his struggle for justice with our
own, as we lay down the foundation of Christian principles and apply
its wisdom to bring about peaceful change. :
Why do they label the movement as negative? As King states, because
if they are not with him, then they’re against him. We must band
together for this cause. This is the means by which change is made; we
can indeed love our brethren and put an end to his torture. Mental and
verbal abuses are indeed far greater than physical. Wake up Augusta!
Change going to come when you change your thinking, which affects
your actions.
I urge you, in the Name of Jesus, to resist the temptation to deny
your ancestors struggle and steadfastness. To put it blundy, why would
we continue to allow someone to verbally assault our people, especially
our leaders and demean our women for another day?
Are you among the number? Are you counted as one who can now say;
“I understand what the movement is about and I now know where I
fitin.” |
Let me tell you what will change a city, and more so a nation.
Without one shot fired, the Moral Authority, the SCLC, changed a
nation and now serves as a beacon for the world because they followed
the mission of Christ. A non-violent movement that involves protest is
not to be mistaken as divisive but rather as a movement of change.
A change that could conceivably result in people helping people. The
change can become the catalyst for people voting. It is imperative that
corporate enemies acknowledge a serious and frustrated populous who
have declared that enough is enough. Change is going to come when
you change. Join the movement and get in where you fit in.

realizes WGAC's Austin Rhodes
simply cannot go one program
without bringing up something
at least borderline negative
about Black folks?
Constantly he thumbs his
nose at civility as he talks like
an Amos and Andy rerun
exaggerating his imitation of
the way Black people talk.
There is no need for Austin to
do this unless he is so
obsessed with race that he
cannot stop harping on it.
That's sad. Does he really
have to do this to ger ratings?
If so, it doesnt say much for
Augusta or advertisers using
WGAC. Is Augusta the
only place and WGAC the
only employer that tolerates
or even celebrates an Austin

The Augusta area has a
gang and drug problem that
Austin should be obsessing
about and let others deal with
the Williams and Walkers.
One thing for sure, there is

silence is betrayal.” That time has
come for us in relation to Vietnam.
The truth of these words is
beyond doubt but the mission to

Some of us who have already
