The only thing that aint cute is the fact that
your friend used to mess with this person.
Some may disagree with me, but I think
that once someone has had an intimate rela
tionship with one of your friends (sexually),
that person becomes OFF LIMITS. All 1
am trying to say is, | just won't do it! I have
been thinking about which one of my co
workers you have these feelings for and see
ing that you refuse to let me comment on
your sex; you really ain't helping a sista out
here, but it's cool. When I brought this
topic up on the radio last week, a few of the
listeners said that you should not have to ask
for permission, seeing that it was over a year
ago. Additionally, they only had a one-night
stand. That was their opinion. Besides, I just
do not want to go purposely behind my
girl, point blank. Likewise, Ido not want
them going behind me. So you figure out
what you will do about this litte secret
cush you are entertaining and if itll be
worth it to go behind your friend’s back to
try and ‘holla’ at him. If you do decide to
‘holla’ at him; think about what your plans
will be if your friend is upset about it. Do
you really care? Well, if you answered “Yes”
to caring, then you should go t her first.
Ask her would she be upset if you ‘hollered’.
‘This will let you and your friend know that
it will bring out the type of friend you are.
If she says she will be upset about it and you
still *holla’ at him; then what kind of friend
are you> Why mess up a friendship over
something or somebody that you don't even
really know would want to ‘holla’ at you?
Or even is ‘Relationship Material”? You
think about it and do the right
thing. . .what ever you believe that is.

Gates, the first member of

spokeswoman Sophia Glover. The $3 mil
lion from Charles’ estate is the only money
contributed toward the center so far, she
said.
Glover said it was always understood
that the funds were unrestricted.
“It has always been cdlear that we would
use (the money) for our most immediate
need, and that would be scholarships for
students to attend the university,” Glover
said. “In return for the gift, to show our
apprediation for Ray Charles, we wanted to
name the fine arts building for him.”
In a letter dated June 22, 2006, to
Charles' longtime manager, Joe Adams,
Everette Freeman — then the president of
Albany State — wrote that state Board of
Regents did not recommend the project be
forwarded to the Legislature for funding.
“Consequently, we likely will not see
funds appropriate (sic) for the building
until at least the fiscal year beginning in
July 2008, if we are lucky,” Freeman wrote.
The letter said the $1 million gift is in a
bank, and that the balance “was used for
Presidential Scholarships.”
“I was unable to locate any document
restricting the way or manner the gift could
be used, although the intent remains to use
the ... funds alongside state appropriations,
when made available, to construct the Ray
Charles Fine Arts Building on the ASU
campus,” Freeman wrote.
Subsequent press releases and other ref
erences to the gift by Albany State said the
donation “will support the university’s
efforts to educate young people.”
Glover said the school considers the $3
million gift an honor, and that the situa
tion is a misunderstanding.

you are to achieving them.”
That artitude will take Gates
very far in her pursuit of edu

just as eager.”
Architectural renderings of the building
have been drawn, and a site has been select
ed on campus.
Charles was born on Sept. 23, 1930, in
Albany. He died of acute liver disease on
June 10, 2004, at the age of 73.
In 2001, Charles also gave two gifts of
