Pearl White Stays In Convent
And Then Leads New Fashion
Of Wearing Wigs In Paris
Paris, Oct. 20.—It’s a long, far
cry, mes amis, from a lonely con
vent on the French border to La
■ Cigale, the Montmartre music
hall, but that is just how far the
imagination has got to jump to
get this bit of interesting infor
mation concerning Pearl White,
who won fame from nowhere at
all by daring stunts with the
movies.
'Less than two years ago Pearl
who had made $2,000,000 in ten
years of movie life, departed New
York for a small convent in the
Alps.

If Your Back Hurts or BladdeY
Bothers You, Begin
Taking Salts.
When your kidneys hurt and
your back feels, sore don’t get
scared and proceed to load your
stomach with a lot of drugs that
excite the kidneyS and irritate the
entire urinary tract. Keep your
kidneys clean like you keep your
bowels clean, by flushing them
with a mild, harmless salts which
helps to remove the body’s uri
nous waste, and stimulates them
to their normal activity, The
function of the kidneys is to fil
ter the blood. In 24 hours they
strain from it 500 grains of acid
and waste, so we can readily un
derstand the vital importance
of keepin the kidneys active.
Drink lots of good water—you
can’t drink too much; also get
from any pharmacist about four
ounces of Jad Salts; take a ta
blespoonful in a glass of water
before breakfast each morning
for a few days and your kidneys
may then act fine. This famous
salts is made from the acid of
grapes and lemon juice, combined
with lithia, and has bee n used for
years to help clean and stimu
late clogged kidneys; also to neu
tralize the acids in the system so
they are no longer a source of
irritation, thus often relieving
bladder weakness.
Jad Salts is inexpensive; can
not injure; makes a delightful
effervescent lithia water drink,
which everyone should take
and then to help keep their kid

Pearl’s desire for retirement
did not long survive the Paris
air. She has lost a fortune at
Deauville and Biarritz playing
roulette and the ponies. But she
had her magic gift for enter

Lives in State.
In her stunt sh eappears with
a costume that reminds one of
Gungadin Kiplingesque raiment,
but she is dressed for a storm
compared to the girls of the La

She lives' in state at the Gril
lon and goes frequently to Mit
chell’s, an all night resort of
Paris. Pat Powers, who gave her
a start, was one of her recent
courtiers.
Numerous reports come as to
possible matches for the star. She
was first married in a very youth
ful days to Victor Sutherland, ac

her divorce from McCutcheon in
1921 that she decided upon retire
