Gift shoppers, who plan carefully in choosing gifts for HER, whether it is
for mother, wife, sister, daughter or friend, come here first because the va
riety of stock offers a better choice. They do most of their buying here be

“ALIMONY CLUB” IS
SENT TO NEW JAIL
--
new YORK, Dec. 14.— 1 The “Ali
mo ny Club” composed of about 30
me n who would rather languish be
hind prison walls than fulfill court
decrees, has been moved to new, but
not better quarters. The old Ludlow
street Jail, which has been its head- I
quarters for 59 years, is being tom
down. Some time ago it was
ere d that the "guests" were served
by a staff of 22 people, including
four cooks, a physician and a laun
dress.
The inmates were not locked in
their cells except at night. They had
theatrical entertainments and a ra
dio. They had rosebushes and dove
cotes in the Jail yard. They 1 had
service comparable to that of the
best hotels. They had such a good
time that they gave the warden a
silver loving cup.
