Mrs. R. M . Crowder, Mrs.Murray Give Tea!
MRS. MILES CROWDER IS THE
INSPIRATION FOR A BEAUTIFUL
* TEA ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON
One of the most brilliant tees
ever given in Griffin was that of
0 Mrs Miles Crowder and Mrs.
George Murray, Thursday after
noon at the home of Mrs. Crowder.
The tea was a beautiful compli
ment to Mrs. Miles Crowder, a re-
4 cent charming addition to Griffin
society and also honored Mrs.
J. F. Bazemore, of Orlanda, Florida,
a feted visitor and Mrs. W. A -
Hasty, another lovely addition to
Griffin.
The lovely home, so well suited
. ,0 entertaining was lovely through
out with a wealth of summer
blossoms in every hue.
Greeting the guests at the front
door was Mrs. George Niles, who
Was beautifully gowned in ]>each
georgette heavily beaded;
, Little Misses Marion Mercer and
Alice Murray Crowder received the
• cards just outside the door.
Both of the adorable children
were wearing yellow taffetas with
big bows of yellow ribbin in their
hair.
•On a pedestal in the hall was a
large basket filled with bright
colored zinnias, golden glow and
gladioli. Another beautiful basket
filled with gladioli, dusty miller
and zinnias was effectively used in
the wide French doors leading into
the drawing room. ■

The drawing room where the
receiving line stood was unusu
ally lovely w'itli quantities of flow
ers that added charm to the al

the living room. A basket filled
with roses, fern and zinnias was
placed on the mantel in this room,

| flowers, Mrs. Crowder, Mrs. Murray
Mrs. Miles Crowder, Mrs. Eaaemore
and Mrs. Hasty was receiving
the guests.
Mrs. Crowder was lovely in black
i a ce fashioned on straignt lines.
Mrs. Murray’s handsome gown
of yellow georgette heavily beaded
in crystals.
Mis. Miles Crowder was very at
tractive in apricot taffeta fashioned
bouffant.
Mrs. Basemore was lively in rose
figured chiffon caught at the waist
w ’*-h a rhinestone buckle.
,. Mrs. Hasty was wearing beige

georgette trimmed . , with lace. She
was wearing an exquisite corsage of
ros es and delhphinum on the shoul
der.
The dining room where the guests
were next invited was a picture
beauty. The dining rrom table was
exquisite, covered with a cluny lace
cover, it had as its central decor
atio na beautiful silver vase filled !
with pink Radiance roses, blue del
phinium, ferns and for get me nots.
Four unshaded pink tapers burned | j
in silver holdecs at each corner
of the table. Silver compotes held j
pink mints and salted almonds as
pretty accessories to the table. Two i

the buffet was filled with pink
nias and fern.

Miss Ogletree was beautiful in
yellow taffeta made bouffant and
with uneven hem line.
Miss Lillian Crowder was lovely
in gold lace with accessories to
match.
Miss Ann Hill Drewry was most
becomingly gowned in pink geor
gette with hand palmed pink and
blue flowers on the skirt.
Miss Fanny Willis Niles was wear
mg light blue taffeta and tulle made
with full skirt and tight waist, and
hand painted flower; on the skirt
an( f waist.
Miss Francis Reese was lovely in
green figured . georgette .. with .... a long
waist line and caught with a wide
girdle of pale green georgette.
Miss Bolton was wearing a pale
green taffeta made on straight lines.
In the den where punch was serv

place held a basket nlled with pink
zinnias, delphinium, tern and dus
ty-miller. A low bowl filled with
bright colored nastdttiums was on
a table in this room.

Joiner, Jr.. Miss Ruby Bolton and
Miss Louise Carver presided over the
punch bowl.
Mrs. Land was lovely in yellow

ed in black georgette and jet.
Mrs. Austin was stunning in
black georgette with jet trimmings.
Delicious salad with punch was
served during the afternoon..
Three hundred ladies called dur
ing the afternoon to meet the honor
guests and pay their respects to Mr.s
Murray and Mrs. Cro vder.

The Pythian Sisters will meet to
night at 7:30 o'clock at in the K. P.
hall with all the members urged to
be present.
Officers of the Pyth'an sisters are
requested to be at the hall at 7

meeting. A social hour will be en
joyed after the business meeting.

Tlie meeting was opened by Abijjj
ing a hymn followed by a prayer
by Mrs, Corley. The devotional was
led by Mrs. Tobe Storey who read
the 2nd chapter of Luke. Rev. C.
B. Bullard, the pastor of the church
gave a very instructive talk on the
j lesson which was hignly enjoyed.

STRICKLAND HONORED WITH
BIRTHDAY PARTY RECENTLY

j entertained at their home near
Griffin Tuesday afternoon from
3 to 5 with a beautiful party
honoring their twin daughters
i Helen and Hazel, who were cele
! brating their sixth anniversary.
The young guests assembled on
the lawn and the porch, which
was beautifully decorated with a
profusion of summer flowers.
After the interesting games the
guests were served delicious ice
cream and cakes, and later in the
afternoon they enjoyed an informal
watermelon cutting.
Mrs. Strickland was assisted in
serving by Mrs. J. E. Newby, Mrs.
