Production Of New

DETROIT March 16 That there

Tins alteration in" production
plans Mr Giant explained, was
considered only after very thorough
■ urvevs of business conditions un
dertaken tiv him and other Chev
rolet olflcinls In the course of
ltd' year's dealer meetings, offi
cials divided into three groups and
visited .17 metropolitan centers. Ex
hnu.' five studies of sectional condi
tions were made possible hy the co
opi ■nition of thousands of dealers,
broker; and businessmen.
“At the time the 6-cylinder car
was announced, we predicted a
volume of 1.250.000 units for 1929."
Mr. Grant said. "As a result' of
mv visit to 13 widely scattered
sections and similar visits to other
.sections l>y my associates I feel that
we arc warranted in raising that
ligftre to 1,350,000. Beyond that
nuuk we cannot go with our pres
ent facilities but these can be
quickh inc.eased if the demand
justifies,
“While we feel that there will
be a ready market for this huge
volume of cars and trucks they
will he produced only it they can
he absorbed in a natural way. We
do not want in any event to crowd
dealers or overload them. The
dealers, however seem to feel that
tliis'ltT'eitt volume will - be~ dif
not
Hcult to handle."
Mr. Grant seemed highly enthu
siastic in his forecast for continued
prosperity. Everywhere he traveled,
he said, indications pointed to a
year of unusual promise. "The
fa inters of the northwest, due to
ideal weather conditions which
have prevailed thioughout last fall
during the winter, anticipate
bumper wheat harvests. Increased
wage scales in the Butte mining
districts together with the best
outlook for the copper industires in
years, impressed me forcefully,
since the establishment of a Chev
inlet Zone Office at Butte, two
years ago. the volume of our sales
ims-.been more than doubled, and
the company now contemplates the
establishment of a new patts depot
and wan house at Great Falls to
be opened probably in July.

dollar mark surpassing all monthly
records."
Other Chevrolet officials who
were hi charge of dealer meetings
at various times in other sections
of the country expressed keen op
timism over the outlook. H. J
Klingler. general 5 sales manager,

that the demand for the new car
