Zero Club Sponsors Beautiful Dance
At the Athletic Club Friday Night
With Many Dancers Enjoying
One of the most brilliant and en
tertaining script dances ever held
in Griffin was given last ntt’iht at
the Griffin Athletic court. The
dance was sponsored by the Zero
club, a group of young college boys.
Graham Jackson, Seminole Syn
copators, twelve-piece colored or
chestra furnished the music for the
dance. It was the best music had
in Griffin for many months.

Maddox, of Jackson, and Charles

made by J. W. Maddox, father of

Miss Maddox possesses many

The guests were, entertained
throughout the lovely home and
on the spacious lawn surround
ing it. The house was decorated
lavishly with vases and baskets
of dahlias and gladioli.
Miss Wright was receiving her
guests in a pretty evening gown
of watermelon georgette while Miss
Purdy received in a becoming
white organdy frock.
Miss Barbara Wright, lovely in
blue voile, passed the prom cards
to the guests. Miss Jane Melton,
pretty in while silk, also assisted
in entertaining.

Virginia Forbes served punch dur
ing the evening from a bowl on

were arranged throughout the love -
ly home, which was attractive with
quantities of mixed garden flowers.
Zinnias, phlox, and ^gladioli pre
dominated in the ,Lions, which
filled vases and everywhere.
Miss Brown was receiving her
guests in a pretty summer model ol
green voile
Mrs. Blake was lovely in a orach
crepe sport dress with a white fait
hat.
The hostess Was assisted in the
entertainment of her guest- bv Mrs.
Milton J. Daniel, Miss Nellie Bryant,
Mrs. William Beck, Jr., and Miss
Marian Wallace.
Mrs. Daniel was handsomely
gowned in grey and black figured
chiffon.
Miss Bryant was attractive ir

Mrs. Beck’s becoming model was
of light blue chiffon, fashioned in
long lines.

was enjoyed for several rounds Mrs.

Home Here During Dance Friday Night
A delightful social event honor

sponsored by the Zero cluh.
The beautiful home of the Kim
brough’s “Kimbrough Lodge” was
decorated with quantities of summer
flowers. Low bowls and vases fill
ed with garden flowers were used In
the dining room, hall, living room,
den and porch where the guests
were received.

At the Memorial Club House Here
One of the most interesting affairs
of the week in Griffin was the sup
per which Liberty Chapter. No. 147,
Order of the Eastern Star, sponsored
on Thursday night at the Memorial
Club House.
The colors of the chapter, blue,
yellow, white, green and red, pre
dominated in the decorations of ex
quisite summer flowers that were
arrange?) at all available places. The
small tables were overlaid‘with cov
er,. in these colors and each tabic
was centered by a bud vaae filled
with rases.
Col, W. H. Connor welcomed the
guests after they assembled. Dur
ing the evening, E. K, Dom'ngos and
Lamont Gresham sang a number of

Mrs. Arthur C. Blake, a charm
ing bride of the summer, was the
inspiration for the beautifully ap
pointed bridge te a at which Mrs.
Charles H. Oriffith entertained on
Thursday afternoon at her home
on S. Hill street.
The tables for the games were
placed in the spacious living room,
dining room and sun parlor, which
were filled with colorful blossoms
cf the season. In vases and bas
kets pjlaced everywhere were quan
tles of gladioli, phlox and forget
me.nots.
Mrs. Ortfttth received her guests
ir, a pretty green flowered chiffon
model.
Mrs. Blake was lovely In pink
chiffon trimmed with ecru lace
end worn with a hat. to match.
Assisting the hostess in the en
tertainment of her guests was Mias
Jeanette Moore. of Maryville,
Tenn., Mrs. Wilbur Brown, Mrs.

Miss Moore was most attractive
in a black and white sport suit.

ty frock of green flowered chiffon.
In the entertaining games of
bridge, Mr*. Frank Smith and
Mrs. 8ar a Garland Bilker were
high, and Jow scorers, Mrs. Smith
winning a deck of cards and Mrs.
Baker a dainty handkerchief. Mrs.
Blake's prize was a pretty hand
embroidered guest towel.
Late In the afternoon a deli
cious salad ooume with an Ice
was served at the small tables.
Pretty accessories to the plates
were Individual heartshspe pink
cakes, embossed In lilies of the
valley.

cero. After supper, Kelley took
pictures of Mrs. Moore; Mrs, Helen
Connor, worthy matron; Mrs. Aline
Jones, past matron; and the glrla
who served. All of them were
wearing the attractive aprons and
cap* of the Kell Co.
About 75 guest* enjoyed the occa
»lon and a number of others bought
ticekta to assist the chapter with
the splendid work which it is doing
here and in the state.

Dogs’ Bath Club
LONDON. July 20.—A dogs’ bath
club has been organised at Chelsea
by a wealthy group of dog owners.
The member* take their dogs to the
club, and while Pido la being bath
ed, washed and combed, the mem
ber* ait In the lounge and sip cock
