former Miss Flossie Frances Smith,
daughter of Mrs. S. O. Smith -and
the late Mr. Smith of Griffin. Miss
Lynch’s father Is the late Mr. C. R
Lynch, son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
W. L. Lynch also of Griffin. Her
only sister is Miss Charlsey Lynch,
and her brothers are Ray, Jack,
Jimmie, and Terry Lynch all of
Griffin.
Miss Lynch graduated from Grif
fin High School in 1940. She is now
employed in the office of Dovedown
Hosiery Mills.
Mr. Westmoreland is the son
Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Westmoreland
of Miami, Florida. His mother is
the former Miss Lucile Robinson,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. A.
Robinson of Griffin. His paternal
grandparents are Mrs. J. E. West
moreland, Sr., also of Griffin and
the late Mr. Westmoreland. Henry
Westmoreland, Jr.. U. S. Navy, is
his only brother.
The groom-elect attended the
public schools of Miami, and after
being honorably discharged from the
U. S. Army is now connected with
Pan-American Air Ways in Miami.

The Woman's Missionary Society
of Sunny Side Baptist Church met
at the church Saturday afterr. ion,
December 8. for the regular monthly
meeting. Mrs. J. A. Gulledge, vi-e
president, presided.
Mrs. Gulledge led the devoriemi,
and the program was pietanted by
members cf the Society.
During a short business session
minutes were read, the roll was
called, and routine reports were
heard.
Following- the meeting the W. M.
S. entertained the Sunbeam mem
bers with a delightful Christmas
party.

Announcement is made today of
the marriage of Miss Virginia Folds,
only daughter of Mrs. C. R. Grig
gers, to Mr. William H. Taylor. The
wedding was solemnized by Judge
S. B. Wallace, Ordinary, at his
home here Saturday, December 8.
Mrs. Clay Taylor, aunt of the
bride, was matron cf honor. She was
dressed in a suit combining shades
of brown and blue, and her acces
sories were brown.
Mr. Clay Taylor, brother of the
groom, served as best man.
The bride was beautifully attir
ed in a soldier blue woolen suit ac
cented by black accessories.
Mrs. Taylor attended the Grif
fin public schools.
Mr. Taylor is the son of Mrs.
Lillie Moore and the late Mr. Car
ter Taylor. He attended Spalding
schools. He entered the service in
1943 and served overseas in the South
Pacific Area for eight months. He
is now employed by Pittman Metal
Products.

at a double ring ceremony perform
ed by the Rev. Roger W. Stone; pas
tor of Oakland City Methcdist
Church Immediate families and
close friends were present.
Mrs. William Martz, cousin of the
bride, was the bride’s only attend
ant. She was attired in a brown sil*
ensemble worn with brown acces
sories and a corsage of red roses.
Mr. William Martz served as best
man.
The bride entered with her fath
er. She was charmingly dressed in
a winter white suit worn with light
blue and navy accessories. A spray

Meeting At Parish House
The Utility Club met Friday
12:30 at the Grantland
Parish House for the annual
mas meeting.
Burning white tapers surrounded
by pine, silvered pine cones, and
red Christmas balls decorated the
tables, and covers were marked by
Christmas place cards. Among dec
oration features was the large light
ed Christmas tree and the brightly
tied packages beneath the tree.

ner, Mrs. H. A. Belton, Jr„ president,
conducted the meeting The rofl

by the secretary, Mrs. Herben Tur
ner. Mrs. C. T. Phillips gave an
excellent financial report, mention
ing the success of the recent Utility
Club Bazaar. Mrs. Bolton an
nounced that at last week’s meet
ing of the Executive Board it was
voted to donate $15.00 to the Amer
ican Legion “Give A Gift To The
Yank Who Gave” project.
During the meeting Mrs. Boltcu
welcomed provisional members into
active membership of the club.

cuss'd plans for Christmas pro
jects.
Mrs. Vinson led the group in a
series of Christmas carols, and Mrs.
R. O. Crouch, Jr., was

charged from the U. S. Army after
serving for three years overseas with
the Eighty-second Airborne Division.

met Wednesday afternoon at the
home of Mrs. C. A. Huckaby with
Mrs. Frank Van Haltern as co
hostess.
Mrs.- A. B. McFarland presided
during the meeting, and the group
joined in saluting the flag. Mrs.
Cecil Maddox presented the after
noon devotional, closing the devo
tional with an inspiring prayer. Mrs.
Emmett Willis led a series of
Christmas carols, and Mrs. W. E.
Hendrix read a beautiful Christ

During the business session min
utes were read, and the nominat
ing committee announced one new
officer for 1946, Mrs. W. E. Hendrix,
vice president.
Mrs. W. G. Cartledge gave a re
port of Homecoming Day held re
cently at Spalding High School.
During the social hour entertain
ing contests were held with Mrs.
C. A. Huckaby, Mrs. J. J. W. Smith,
and Mrs. K H. Garren winning
prizes. After gifts were distribut
ed Mrs. W. G. Cartledge assisted the
hostesses in serving.
