SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — UP) —
Deputy Sheriff Roy Garrison
stared In amazement at an 8
year-old- boy who walked
through an open window Into
his second floor courthouse of
fice.
"I Just been walking around
the courthouse," the lad ex
plained.
Garrison’s investigation dis
closed the boy's "walkway" was
a six-inch ledge around the
building Just below the second
story windows. The lad spent
half an'hour In the Juvenile Jill

Cecil Butler, 35, and his helper,
John Rhodes, 16, were closing up
on a Saturday night when the
door of the refrigerator accident

handle sheared off.
The apprentice, realizing that
they probably would freeze If the
temperature was not raised, fash

mostat to 50 degrees.

Their mothers call them Dorothy,
but their high school teachers pall
two ’teen-age girls of thls^' Uttl
Kansas town “Herb” and “Phil.”
In a small class, the nicknames
were necessary to avoid confusion.
Nat only were both girls named.
Dorothy Krehbiel, but both had
the same middle name—"Mae.”
As a solution, the teachers de
cided to Identify the girls, both
high school seniors, by their fath
ers’ first names.

Good Old Irish Name

venr-old Enelishwoman has gotten
rid of her Irish name, O’Connor,
which she has resentfully carried
for 50 years.
She told Judge Carl Quacken
bush she put off marrying her late
husband for two years because
she didn’t like the name and that
she had been mistaken for an Irish
woman ever since.
The court did not hesitate giv
ing her back her mr.iden name of
Elizabeth Jane Cook, especially
after lt learned that, she already
had lt engraved on her tombstone.
