Ford returned only a week ago
from his annual visit to the Ford
estate in Georgia and was said to
have been in excellent health at
that time.
He had been planning to celebrate
his wife's birthday and their 59th
wedding anniversary Friday.
The passing of the elder Ford
snded a career that had many
facets. He was an ardent pacifist, a
orohibitionist, deeply interested in
sociology and in the development of
agriculture as an adjunct to in
iustry.

The Atlanta Crackers put togeth

five runs in the first two Innings
and went on to shut out the Grif
fin Pimientos 12-0, In an exhibi
tion game at the local park .Mon
day afternoon.
Atlanta showed a lot of power at
the plate in collecting 14 hits off
of two Griffin pitchers, three of
them four-base hits. Wilson Mc
Gee, starting pitcher for Griffin
gave up nine hits and eight runs
in five innings. Frank Chiles,
Griffin, was touched for five hits

Sheriff Tommy Howard plans to
take to the air In his fight against
-rime. He is getting flying lessons
and expects to use a plane,
equipped with a short wave radio
to nab criminals over the county.
