In Qualifying Heat
Griffin High school athletes have
walked away with two honors in
state high school competition at
Macon this week.
The Griffin High golf team won
the team title In the class B and
<: golf tournament for the second
straight year with a total of 651
strokes. 17 strokes ahead of second
place Albany.
Pete Perris paced the Griffin
team with 153 for the 36 holes to
take second individual honors. Billy
Phillips of McHen-y High, Rome,
was first. The Griffin team besides
Ferris was composed of Wed Ito
bert.'o Trey Smith and Lamont in
Brooks. |

the state class B and C track meet
Pete Ferris broke the old mark for

Ferris hurled the discus* 137 feet,
six inches. The former record ot

Ferris also qualified in the shot
put and Jimmy Thomas of Griffin
