speaker at the meeting of the Grif
fin Woman’s Club Thursday at the
Memorial Clubhouse.
Speaking on the subject, “The
American Home,” Mrs. Owen stated
that the home is not a house but
an assembly of individuals. She said
that the home is saerth—that It is
the nucleus of a community and the
nucleus of a nation. Hie progress
of a country, she continued. Is no
ted by the kinds of homes people
live in. Mrs. Owen emphasized that
members of the home, should study
each other and understand each
other and that each should be made
to feel that he has a vital part to
the home. •
“As we the women of> America
build homes, let us remember to
grow with those who live In the
homes. There is something for each
of us to do in the making and
preserving of the American home,”
the speaker concluded.
Dr. Adeline Patton, president,
presided, and Mrs. H. G. Hutchin
son led a special Armistice Day
prayer. Hie club made plans to sell
cook books as'a financial project.
Proceeds from the sale will go to
Tallulah Falls School, a primary
project of the dub.
Reports were made by Mrs. Earl
Kendrick, secretary: Mrs. Harold
McKivsely, treasurer; and Mrs. E.
K. Domingos, membership chair
man. Mrs.? Paul Turner and Mrs.
A. R. Turner reported on the con
vention of the Fourth District, Geor
gia Federation of Women’s
neld here recently. Hie president
appointed the following special
committee chairman;

Mrs. G. A/ Lebedeff, citizenship:
Mrs. H. G. Hutchinson, education;
Mrs. A. R. Turner, fine arts, and Mrs.

health; Mrs. W. H. Beck, gardens.

the meeting. Hostesses were Mrs. J.
